    YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS: Armenia as a touristic country has to
    increase the competitiveness of its touristic sphere, yet the country
    does not yield to its neighbor states.

    At the briefing with Armenpress reporter Mekhak Apresyan, Tourism
    Department head of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia
    stated that Armenia competes with neighbor countries by its
    comparative advantages and exclusive qualities.

    `Armenia is considered exclusive as it is the first country that
    adopted Christianity as a state religion, the first country that
    accepted the world's first tourist Noy. The high-quality personnel is
    the comparative advantage of Armenian touristic sphere' Apresyan
    noted.

    The interlocutor highlighted the fact that during last two years
    Armenian hotel institutions has not raised the prices of services.
    `There is a widespread wrong opinion that it is cheaper to have a rest
    in Georgia than in our country. In booking.com web site we drew

    Armenia and Georgia , reportedly there was not a significant
    difference concerning the prices and services' head of the Department
    assured.

    In addition Apresyan noted there is great deal of work to be done in
    the field of tourism concerning its infrastructures and services.

    In Armenia tourism by its developing rates and results is considered
    one of the most dynamically developing branches. 757 thousand 935
    tourists have visited Armenia in 2012; there is growth by 10.3
    percent.

    `Caucasian tiger" description was given by World Bank to Armenia in
    2007. In the world economy `tiger ` is used to describe the countries
    which ten years incessant have registered double-digit economic
    growth, and sharp reduction in poverty.
