YEREVAN, JUNE 18, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronyan
has taken victory over Italian Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in the
last - 9th round of the Mikhail Tal Chess Memorial, Chess Federation
of Armenia told Armenpress. Levon Aronyan scored 4, 5 points with
white figures.
The winner of this tournament is already known. It is Magnus Carlsen
from Norway, who defeated English chess player Luke McShane. American
Hikaru Nakamura and Azerbaijani Teimur Radjabov played draw. The
prize fund of the tournament makes 100 000 Euros.
The Tal Memorial is a chess tournament played in Moscow each year since
2006, to honour the memory of the former World Champion Mikhail Tal
who died in 1992. Tal Memorial 2012 took place June 7 - June 18, 2012,
with participants Magnus Carlsen, Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik,
Teimour Radjabov,Alexander Grischuk, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana,
Alexander Morozevich, Evgeny Tomashevsky and Luke McShane.
The tournament proper is preceded on June 7 by a blitz chess tournament
with a separate prize fund to determine the numbering of the players
in the main tournament.
