YEREVAN, JUNE 18, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian delegation has retuned from
the Annecy International Animation Film Festival held June 4-9.Armenia
was represented at the festival with retrospective showing of the
animation films by Robert Sahakyants.
"The participation allowed the visitors to get aware of existence
of the Armenian animation film, because many attributed the Armenian
production to the soviet one," Davit Sahakyants, Director of "Robert
Sahakyants Production" animation studio, told Armenpress.
According to him, the Armenian delegation reached an agreement on
participating in international festivals due in Amsterdam, Bologna,
Moscow and Zagreb.
"Anahit" animation film especially raised a high interest, as no less
than 200 people are usually involved in analogous big projects, whereas
"Anahit" was produced thanks to a smaller group of specialists," Mr
Sahakyants said. He noted that one of the biggest Persian animation
studios will, in all appearances, buy the right of showing "Anahit"
in their country.
"Participation in a similar festival is already a great achievement
for Armenia," he stressed, adding that in 2013 Armenia will participate
in the festival with 1 or 2 short-length films.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was created in 1960
and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy,
France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became
annual in 1998. The festival is a competition between cartoon films
of various techniques (animated drawings, cut out papers, modelling
clay, etc.). Annecy International Animation Film Festival is one of
the most authoritative festivals of the world.
