CONSTITUTIONAL COURT REFUSES LAWSUIT BY DEFEATED ARMENIAN OPPOSITION MP CANDIDATE

YEREVAN. - Armenia's Constitutional Court refused to consider the
lawsuit by the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) MP candidate
David Matevosyan on recognizing invalid the election results in No. 38
precinct [due to May 6 parliamentary elections].
The Court believes that there is lack of legal bases to consider
the decision of the district election commission illegal, Postinfo
agency reports.
To note, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP candidate Vahe Hakobyan
was elected in the aforesaid precinct (22,751 votes), opposition
ARF Dashnaktsutyun member Gagik Gevorgyan had 8,000 votes, while ANC
member Matevosyan had 1,795 votes.
