Snipers from the Russian military base in Armenia are learning to
use new Vintorez ("Thread cutter") rifles, the Southern Military
District's spokesman Col. Igor Gorbul told Interfax-AVN.
"Live firing is held at several training venues where the personnel
are performing over 15 types of firing drills, including in nighttime
conditions, against various types of targets and at various distances,"
Gorbul told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
Particular focus is on training sniper teams whose main objective is
to destroy light armored vehicles, disable a simulated adversary's
command staff and communications systems, he said.
