Military expenditures of Azerbaijan have grown more than 20 times
over the past few years, amounting to 3.6 billion dollars, President
Ilham Aliyev told graduates from military educational establishments
on Monday.
According to the president, "the Azerbaijani army now ranks among
the strongest armies not only of the region, but of the whole world".
"Attention to the army is priority of the Azerbaijani state," and
the society supports that, the president stressed.
"Azerbaijan will keep building up the strength of its army and
increasing its professionalism," Aliyev noted. According to him,
"the Azerbaijani army defends stability in the region". Focusing on
the conflict around the mostly Armenian populated Azerbaijani enclave
of Nagorny Karabakh, Aliyev said his country "has all possibilities
to restore its territorial integrity".
