The Research on Armenian Architecture NGO will publish a book about
Armenian communities in India, Director of the NGO Samvel Karapetyan
said in an interview to ArmInfo.
He said that in 2011 the NGO's experts visited 12 Indian cities.
"Two of them, Chinsura and Seyidabad, have Armenian churches. We have
also found Armenian cemeteries in Gwalior and Hyderabad. We have found
proofs that in XVI there were Armenian churches in Surat and Agra.
They no longer exist. But Surat has an Armenian church of XVII, while
in Madras we have found a church and a bridge built by Armenians in
XVIII," Karapetyan said.
