ARMENIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE WELCOMES APPOINTMENT OF NEW AUSTRALIAN FM

The Armenian National Committee (ANC) welcomed former New South Wales
Premier Bob Carr's appointment as FM of Australia. Carr has had a
considerable contribution to the discussion of the Armenian Cause in
Australia, ANC Australia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
"We are convinced that Carr's appointment as FM will move Australia
with yet another step toward recognizing the Armenian Genocide,"
ANC Australia Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian stated.
Back in 1997, the Australian state of New South Wales had recognized
the Armenian Genocide, and Bob Carr was very instrumental in this
recognition process.
