On the occasion of the `International Women's Day', the Central
Executive Board of the Armenian Relief Society, Inc. congratulates
Armenian women all around the world. Throughout the history of our
people - particularly over the past century - the role played by
Armenian women has been crucial, not just for the physical survival of
our people, but also for the perpetuation of our identity to future
generations through the conservation and dissemination of our
spiritual and cultural values. The contribution of the Armenian woman
becomes even more significant when we compare it to that of other
societies where, in spite of international support, they visibly and
continuously seem to lose ground in maintaining and propagating their
ethnic or national ideals and traditions to the point of eventual
demise. Across the Diaspora and the Homeland, the Armenian woman - an
indomitable bastion of our ethnicity - is to be congratulated on this
occasion and lauded for her achievements over the last hundred years.
In view of the challenges facing us at the start of the second
centennial, the ARS Central Executive Board invites Armenian women
everywhere to rally around the Society's vision and be an active part
of the realization of our people's new edifice of national existence,
knowing full well that the ARS will stay true to its humanitarian
mission, committed to the welfare and prosperity of our unified
Homeland, the world-wide Diaspora, and all of humanity.
