YEREVAN. - The accumulation of weapons in the Karabakh conflict zone
cannot be a solution toward the settlement of the conflict, the
Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General
Nikolay Bordyuzha said during a news conference on Monday.
And in response to the question as to whether CSTO is concerned by
Azerbaijan's buying of large quantities of weapons from other
countries, Bordyuzha noted that purchasing weapons was Azerbaijan's
right.
`It is Azerbaijan's right to purchase any [military] equipment, just
as every state has the right to arm its `power systems,'' CSTO
Secretary General argued, but he added that the intensive accumulation
of arms and ammunition in conflict zones cannot be the key for
resolving the existing problems.
