YEREVAN'S MUNICIPALITY HAS GIVEN MASHTOTS PARK ON LEASE TILL 2028

Yerevan's Municipality has given Mashtots Park on lease till 2028,
say the official documents adduced by a number of civil movements.
Member of the Let's Save Teghut movement Artur Grigoryan told
journalists on Tuesday that Dec 30 2011 Mayor of Yerevan Taron
Markaryan gave over 200 sq m of the park on lease to Eastern Oasis
LLC. The company will be able to use the territory for construction
purposes till 2028.
"So, they lie when they say that the trade pavilions will be removed
in 2-3 years?" Grigoryan said.
A number of civil movements are protesting against the Municipality's
decision to place trade pavilions in Mashtots Park. Today, they staged
a court hearing right in the park.
The municipal authorities say that this is part of their program to
zone Yerevan's center and assure the greens that the pavilions will
be removed in some 2-3 years, but the greens demand that they be
removed immediately.
