One of Armenia's natural wonders, the Mozrov Cave, has collapsed,
report youth public initiative "We Won't be Silent" activists from
the Armenian province of Vayots Dzor.

The group notes that the cave is on a list of historical and
cultural monuments determined by the Armenian government. Experts
and environmentalists have long been warning about the lack of public
attention to this unique cave, but the government has not taken any
action to preserve the cave, the group adds.

A union of young cave experts has also responded to the incident,
blaming the government and state officials for the cave-in and
mentioning that Arjer and Magel caves are also in danger of collapsing.

"Let that which happened at Mozrov be a lesson for us all," read
    the statement.

Located in Vayots Dzor province near the town of Yeghegnadzor,
the 300-meter-long cave was discovered 30 years ago during the
construction of the road that leads to Mozrov village. It is a
deep cave rich with diverse geological formations. For instance, it
contains a large variety of speleothems (limestone cave formations)
such as stalactites, stalagmites, helictites, columns, flowstone,
cave bacon, draperies, and rimstone dams.
