Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has postponed his visit
to Germany, where he was to participate in a range of events. It is
officially reported that the reason for the delay of the visit is the
funeral of the 12 Turkish soldiers who died in a helicopter accident
in Afghanistan. The PM must be present at the funeral.
In Germany an unprecedented protest act was planned before Erdogan's
visit against the decision to award Erdogan with Steiger Award in
"Europe" nomination in Bochum.
22 000 people were expected to participate in the demonstration.
Armenians, Kurds and Alevis urged to protest actively against that
decision. Prior to that, numerous open letters, calls were addressed
to the organisers of the awarding ceremony and to the leadership of
Bochum to review that decision.
