NATO has no plans to take part in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process
under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, Trend cites James
Appathurai, special representative of NATO to the South Caucasus and
Central Asia.
The official said that the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia are
committed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, but the Minsk
Group faces problems it cannot cope with in the process.
Appathurai believes that Nagorno-Karabakh gets as much media attention
as it needs. The South Caucasus is of strategic value due to its
geographic location and potential for energy transit. The conflict
should be resolved in the as soon as possible in accordance with
international law, the NATO official emphasizes.
