Republican Razmik Zohrabyan called Gagik Tsarukyan's critical speech
at the congress of the Prosperous Armenia Party "self-criticism". PAP
is a part of the authorities and is responsible for the process,
for the adopted decisions etc. I don't think it was addressed to the
Republican Party, said Zohrabyan.
Gagik Tsarukyan's speech was not critical and moreover self-criticism.
It was an attempt to have the wolves sated and the sheep intact. On
the one hand, Tsarukyan stated that Armenia does not provide the
necessary conditions for people to earn and so many leave the country.
On the other hand, he said there will be no hostility during the
election period, that is they are not going to confrontation with
the Republican Party.
These two theses are mutually exclusive: it is impossible to accuse
the ruling party of the mortal sin - promotion of devastation of the
country and not to give political assessments and not to call those
responsible. Criticism it were, Tsarukyan would say the government
is leading criminal policy, self-criticism, he would acknowledge his
guilt saying that he will do otherwise from now on. While he just
said amorphous phrases what enabled the society and the RPA treat
the speech as election populism.
Self-criticism would not harm the Republican Party, the leader
of which did not say a single critical word in his speech at the
Republican congress. On the contrary, his entire speech was built on
the achievements, as if Armenia has no emigration, no unemployment,
as if the problem of the people is just the lack of trust towards
the Republican Party.
The lack of self-criticism caused mistrust towards Serzh Sargsyan's
speech and to his future proposals. How can the ruling party fail to
see how people live, how it can dwell on achievements in comparison to
all the bad that could also lack, and not the good, what could be done?
Unfortunately, the Soviet attitude to criticism is preserved in
Armenia when the reports of the heads had to dwell on achievements
and on self-criticism. Meanwhile, it is time to abandon criticism
and move on to an objective assessment of the reality, pointing to
those responsible. There was no such an assessment in the report of
the Republican Party or the PAP.
