YEREVAN. - "Dear people, do not vote 'Like' to that misinformation,"
Armenia's Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan responded
in such way to media reports posted on Facebook, according to which
he does not wish to be a Government member anymore and, instead,
he wants to return to legislative activities.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Armen Ashotyan no longer
wants to be in the Government and, instead, he wishes to return to
lawmaking, that is, to become a National Assembly (NA) MP, but not
a rank-and-file deputy, Hraparak daily wrote.
"According to some information, Ashotyan wishes to assume the position
of the Chairman of the parliamentary [Standing] Committee on European
Integration. But, most likely, Ashotyan will not be satisfied with
such small post, and he could assume the position of NA Speaker.
According to well-informed sources, this is also why Ashotyan not only
was included in [the ruling coalition's Republican Party of Armenia]
RPA Executive Body, but also became RPA Vice Chairman. The current
NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan, who is a veteran RPA, is not RPA Vice
Chairman," Hraparak wrote.
