YEREVAN. - Armenia's Information Technology (IT) sector is
insufficiently informed about the technology-oriented free economic
zone to be established in the capital Yerevan, Karen Vardanyan,
Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises,
stated during a roundtable discussion on Wednesday.
In his words, Armenia's IT companies do not precisely know how they
can enter this free economic zone.
Hovhannes Avetisyan, Head of Economy Ministry's Investment Policy
Department, responded by saying that all necessary legal documentations
are posted on the Ministry's official website.
Enterprise Incubator Foundation Executive Director Bagrat Yengibaryan,
on the other hand, noted that the Government's decisions adopted to
date solely regulate the requirements for the organizer of the free
economic zone.
In response, Avetisyan stated they only have received the Sitronix
Company's bid for organizing Yerevan's free economic zone, and
its launch will be announced six months after the signing of the
respective contract. As per Hovhannes Avetisyan, solely companies
with growing and developing plans ought to carry out activities in
this free economic zone.
