POLITICIAN CALLS FOR STATE'S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The Republic of Armenia has to bear a social responsibility for its
citizen, according to Aram Sargsyan, the leader of the Democratic
Party.
The politician made the statement while introducing his program at
a Thursday news conference. He particularly called for reforming the
state system.
"What we mean by saying a system reform is that Armenia has to be
socially responsible for its citizen. It has also to be enshrined in
the Constitution which needs further amendments," he said.
Asked why the Democratic Party made no move to run for election with a
split ticket, he answered: "If uniting is the case, [the party] would
have done so as an alliance. There would have been a joint program
where we would have our role and be listed in a ballot which includes
not only leaders of political parties but also worthy people," he said.
Sargsyan noted that their co-thinkers, which number thousands, need
an inspiration to believe that they are not alone. He added in the
meantime the party will manage to garner about 10% of votes in the
upcoming election.
