PanARMENIAN.Net - Caucasus Institute director Alexander Iskandaryan
said the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will not manage to
get majority of seats in the next parliament, and a coalition will
be formed again following the elections.
RPA won't get the majority even if its candidates gain victory in most
part of majority constituencies, he told a press conference in Yerevan.
Iskandaryan also spoke about chances of the opposition Armenian
National Congress (ANC) at the upcoming elections, mentioning the
great potential of the movement and particularly its leader Levon
Ter-Petrossian. He pointed out he is sure ANC will enter the next
parliament.
The political expert believes ANC perhaps focuses on short-term,
yet intense and even aggressive election campaign. He reminded of
Ter-Petrossian's success at 2008 presidential race when only official
data showed he could get support of 20% of voters in just a few months.
With regard to this, Iskandaryan said mockingly that Ter-Petrossian
is a champion short distance runner among politicians.
