ARMENIAN FM, FRENCH AMBASSADOR REITERATE POSITIVE DYNAMICS OF DEVELOPMENT OF ARMENIAN- FRENCH RELATIONS

YEREVAN, MARCH 23, ARMENPRESS. On the occasion of 20th anniversary
of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and France
Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian visited March 23 French
embassy to Armenia where he and French ambassador to Armenia met
with the French-speaking students of the Armenian universities. At
the meeting Armenian minister stated that the French-Armenian
relations are based on ancient-long traditions established between
the Armenian and French people and during the past 20 years it has
been succeeded to give new dynamics to the relations, establish
high level political dialogue, form firm legal-contractual basis,
establish close relations between the parliaments of the two countries,
sign extended decentralized cooperation and partnership agreements
between 30 provinces and towns. The minister noted that 155 French
companies are acting in Armenia. With the volume of its investments
in Armenia"s economy France is the second. "The high level of 20-year
long relations has been symbolized by the reciprocal visits of the
Presidents of Armenia and France," Minister Nalbandian said.
French ambassador to Armenia in his turn pointed out that the warm
Armenian-French relations are as sensitive just as reasonable and
Armenia is one of the unique countries which has a peculiar place in
France"s society.
During the meeting Henry Reynaud and Edward Nalbandian answered the
questions the students were interesting in.
In response to one of the questions Minister Nalbandian said France
is the country that had and has important role in the Artsakh conflict
settlement issue, France is the country that gave shelter to thousands
of Armenians who survived during the Armenian Genocide. "France
was among the first to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide,"
the minister said.
