ANKARA. - Turkey's MFA harshly responded to US Commission on
International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) report, where Turkey is
listed among the countries that limit religious freedom.
Turkish MFA's corresponding statement notes that USCIRF's report
is unacceptable for them, and, although the report was prepared by
an independent body, in reality it was prepared by politicians who
pursue different political interests, Milliyet daily of Turkey writes.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Turkey is included in the
list of countries with the worst religious rights record. The USCIRF
report mentions about the "systematic and egregious limitations"
on religious freedom. Turkey and Tajikistan were added to the list
of sixteen countries of particular concern.
"Solely 26 clergy serve Turkey's Armenian community of 65 thousand,"
the report also states.
