HAYKAKAN ZHAMANAK: DEAD SOULS TO TAKE PART IN ARMENIA VOTING
Tert.am
30.03.12
Voters' lists are going to be a "fascinating" feature of the
forthcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.
The official number of voters is increasing as rapidly as emigration
is reducing the country's population. If things go on like this,
the number of voters will soon exceed Armenia's population.
What is the reason for the increasing number of voters? First,
persons who turn 18 are added to the lists, whereas dead people are
not struck off. Of course, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)
is the first to benefit from this - inaccurate voter lists afford
ample opportunities for election rigging.
The persons including dead people's names in the voters lists stop
at nothing. For example, Fadey Sargsyan, a renowned scientist, who
died on January 10, 2010, is "taking part in the voting" in election
district #10.
