Ali Hasanov: "We expect many things from Russia in this issue"
Baku. Ramil Mammadli - APA. "Azerbaijani President has stated many
times during his meetings both with Russian president and other
corresponding organizations that Russia and Azerbaijan are partners.
There are strategic relations between the countries, which cover all
spheres. That's why the Russian foreign minister's visit to Azerbaijan
is not an ordinary one. It must be assessed as an important step in
the determination of priorities of our relations for the next years
and stages", head of Public Policy Department of the Presidential
Administration Ali Hasanov told APA commenting on the upcoming visit
by the Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov to Azerbaijan.
He said that Russia and Azerbaijan discussed and decided on wide
range of issues.
Asked can this visit assist the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh
problem, Hasanov underlined that many things are expected from this
visit: "We have stated many times that there is no such other country,
which has stronger effect in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict than Russia. We make these statements on both regional and
Nagorno Karabakh issues considering Russia's influence on Armenia. In
fact, the Russia's influence on Armenia has no parallel in the world.
Russia can force Armenia to take constructive or non-constructive
position on any issue. In this context we expect many things from
Russia. There are certain initiatives from Russia. Both Russian
president and foreign minister have made efforts in this direction many
times. They announced that such efforts will be continued afterwards. A
serious progress could be expected this year".
