"Maqur Jur" water was bottled from the taps of urban water supply
system in the territory of Nubarashen. "Maqur Jur" brand of MGA Water
Company was advertised as bottled from high mountain springs in Garni.
After the complaint of Every Day Company, producing "Byuregh", the
State Committee for the Protection of the Economic Competition carried
out examination and found out that MGA Water Company gives false
information on the origin of the raw water both through commercials
and the internet site.
The company wasn't able to ground its explanations. Moreover, it
turned out they have no corresponding permission to carry out drilling
with the purpose to get water from natural springs. According to the
committee, MGA Water Company was able to offer significantly lower
price spending less money on its "Maqur Jur" production.
In 2011, the company was recognized as dominant by the committee and
the studies of this year showed that the company's weight is much
bigger in the market.
The committee has also studied the activity of Everyday Day company
which filed the complaint and found that the latter takes the spring
water from the wells belonging to Jermuk Group.
"The fact that MGA Water Company presented the water taken from urban
water supply system as natural spring water misled consumers, which
is defined as bad faith competition and misleading of the public. The
maximum fine prescribed by law for law violation was imposed on the
company-one per cent of the annual revenue," the committee's chairman
Artak Shaboyan said.
