YEREVAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY PRO-RECTOR DENIES RAPING STUDENT

According to the newspaper Zhoghovurd, a student at the Mkhitar
Heratsi Medical University claimed she was raped by Pro-Rector Samvel
Avetisyan.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on April 26. The paper
reports that a female student with ripped clothes exited Avetisyan's
office and began shouting that the official had raped her.
The newspaper says it contacted Rector Derenik Dumanyan who laughed
when he heard the story.
"Where the heck do you get your information? How can such a thing
happen? Our pro-rector is a very well balanced and civil person,"
Dumanyan allegedly told the newspaper.
The paper also got in touch with Pro-Rector Avetisyan who said that
there was a female in the halls shouting that she had been raped
but that the person had graduated in 1993 and that she was a known
schizophrenic.
