On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, at the Journalists House,
Anna Israelyan, Editor of the Aravot website, received an award in
the Press Freedom Time category.
She was awarded for combining the potential of traditional and new
media last year, when the Aravot daily launched its website.
"I am happy that, in the past six month, our website trebled
our readers. When we were on the point of launching our website,
experts tried to dissuade us. But we can see tangible results now,"
Israelyan said.
The award has been presented since 2006, and Aram Abrahamyan,
Editor-in-Chief of the Aravot daily, was the first winner.
In 2007, Tigran Paskevichyan won the award. In 2008, Levon Barseghyan,
Chairman of the Gyumri-based Asparez club, was the awardee. No
awards were presented in 2009 or 2010. Last year Edik Barseghyan,
Editor-in-Chief of the Hetq website, received the award.
