    Yesterday at 11:39 | Interfax-Ukraine BAKU - Most Azerbaijanis
    disapprove of the attempts by the local opposition to use the
    Eurovision 2012 song contest due to be held in Baku in late May for
    political ends, according to the findings of a poll conducted by the
    Rey (Opinion) Monitoring Center.

    When asked about their attitude towards opposition demonstrations in
    relation to the forthcoming contest, only 4.3% respondents claimed
    support.

    Two point three percent rather support such demonstration, while 5.6%
    respondents are indifferent. Sixteen point eight percent said they
    rather disapprove of such demonstrations; 64.1% said they do not
    support and 6.9% could not answer.

    Forty-one point nine percent of respondents said they were outraged
    by the opposition's actions; 15.5% said they were alarmed by such
    demonstrations; 2.3% feel hopeful seeing such demonstrations, 16.8%
    disappointed and 14.4% indifferent.

    When expressing their attitude towards the slogan, "We need Karabakh,
    not Eurovision," chanted at the opposition demonstrations, nearly
    45.8% respondents called it "a provocation aimed at forming a negative
    attitude towards the contest," with only 5.5% respondents agreeing
    with this slogan.

    The poll was conducted among 1,500 respondents aged 18 and above on
    April 24-29. The margin of error is 3%.
