YEREVAN. - Sardarapat movement released a statement in which it
reports that the police did not allow Artavazd Vardanyan, who is
on hunger strike in front of the Armenian Central Election Committee
building, to set a tent. It is stated in the statement that on Thursday
Artavazd Vardanyan had applied to the police asking to permit setting
a tent. The Police answered on Friday that the City Hall must decide
whether he can set the tent or not. Thus Artavazd Vardanyan applied
to the city hall and the Human Rights Defender's Office. On Friday the
police demolished the tent set by the striker while it was raining. The
Ombudsman's answer is being delayed while the striker is left in rainy
weather which can be harmful for his health and violates his rights.
