Political expert: Conference on conflicts in South Caucasus in St.

Conference "Ways to solve conflicts in the South Caucasus" at George
Washington University, located in the city of San Luis, the U.S. state
of Missouri, was of informative rather than action-oriented. Stepan
Grigoryan, Head of the Analytical Center for Globalization and
Regional Cooperation, who attended the conference, made such statement
to ArmInfo.
"Representatives of Georgia and Azerbaijan also attended the
conference. I am very happy that South Caucasus problems are discussed
at such authoritative university. Thanks to the given conference, we
have got an opportunity to discuss problems of the region, in general,
and the Karabakh conflict, in particular. The most important is that
there was no enmity during the debates and by combined efforts we
analyzed facts that has led the conflict to its current state," the
political expert. Grigoryan said that confidence building measures
and the necessity to soften the image of enemy for the conflicting
countries were discussed during the event.
Conference was organized by George Washington University New Center
for Social Sciences, International and Regional Studies Program,
Eurasia Research Center, by the initiative and support of the Center
for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan (SRC).
Investigator of SRC Rauf Garagozov, Georgia, named after Professor of
the Tbilisi State University named after Ivan Javakhishvili, the
Chairman of the Committee of UNESCO's Intercultural Dialogue Nino
Chikovani and chairman of the Globalization and Regional Cooperation
in Yerevan Stepan Grigoryan delivered speech at the conference
moderated by Professor James Vertsin. Azerbaijani ambassador to U.S.
Elin Suleymanov also attended the meeting.
