The joint headquarters set up by the Union of Political Scientists
released a statement today on the election process, claiming that
the parliament formed as a result of May 6 voting does not reflect
people's wish.
The headquarters came to the conclusion after combining the information
received from the proxies, citizens, members of election commissions
which they claim clearly demonstrates that elections passed with
violations.
'Besides, the Central Election Commission defied the demands of law
and failed to ensure the appropriate application of stamps called to
exclude the possibility of multiple voting. The officially published
number of voters also raises doubts,' Hmayak Hovhannissyan, chairman
of the union, read the statement.
The headquarters' representatives stated that they will unite their
efforts to change the defective election system and to establish
mechanisms for real democratic elections.
PAP member Vartan Oskanian, ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan and ARF-D
representative Armen Rustamyan elaborated on the election frauds.
