The parliamentary election on 6 May have become a challenge for the
authorities of Armenia taking into consideration their aspiration
to hold these election at a high level. The frequent statements by
President Serzh Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan that the
election will be free, transparent and democratic are evidence of that,
the head of the Centre for Regional Studies, Richard Giragossian,
    said at today's press-conference.

"These election have become an opportunity to form such parliament
which would finally start resolving problems of the society. Moreover,
they have become a signal which forced the authorities to start
fulfilling their promises given in 2008. The election in Armenia
have also become an examination for the world community especially
if we take into consideration that election will be held in Georgia
in October of the current year and in Azerbaijan - next year. With a
help of the election in Armenia they tried to give relevant signals
to these states", - the expert said.

He also added that Armenia passed the exam but got unsatisfactory
mark. The report of the EU observers is evidence of that. He thinks
that the EU made us strictly understand that it does nothing free of
charge and Armenia has to pay for the election fraud. He also said
that the report of the EU was fair, impartial and independent.

"There was just one omission at the election, that was an omission
of the Armenian people which sold themselves too cheap and did not
use an opportunity given to them", - Giragossian concluded.
