By withdrawing their parliamentary mandates, the Prosperous Armenia
members demonstrate that the party is likely to join the ruling
coalition, according to Styopa Safaryan, a member of the Heritage
party faction in National Assembly.
`Those who dropped from the list are very likely to assume posts in
the executive,' he told Tert.am.
Speaking to our correspondent on Saturday, another lawmaker of the
party, Vardan Vardanyan, officially confirmed that he and other
members, including [Minister of Health] Harutyun Kushkyan, Khachik
Galstyan, Aram Safaryan, had submitted withdrawal notices. Vardanyan
promised to explain the reason later.
Earlier, several key figures of the party (Vardan Oskanyan, Naira
Zohrabyan, Vahe Hovhannisyan and Hmayak Hovhannisyan) had said a
coalition deal would be inadvisable, considering the political
majority of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
