PROBE IS LAUNCHED INTO DESTRUCTION OF ARMENIAN CHURCH IN TURKEY

The treasure hunters are destroying, on a regular basis, the walls
and foundations of the Armenian Church which is left to its fate at
Konak village of Turkey's southeastern Hakkari Province.
The Hakkari Provincial Council members sent a report to Culture and
Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay and requested the church's immediate
restoration in order to save it from final destruction, Haberler news
agency of Turkey informs.
Hakkari's Culture and Tourism Department Chief Emin Ozatak noted
that the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation against
those who are destroying the church. Also, he informed that their
department is unable to restore the church because it did not receive
the necessary funding.
