YEREVAN, MAY 17, ARMENPRESS: In its Paris session the executive
committee of the International Astronomic Union (IAU) has discussed and
selected the list of the IAU official symposiums for 2019 - 9 in all.
Among them is "Multiwavelength AGN Surveys and Studies" symposium
dedicated to 100th anniversary of Armenian prominent astronomer
Beniamin Margaryan, which will take place October 7-11, 2013 in
Armenia, Armenian Astronomical Society told Armenpress.
The other IAU scientific meetings will be held in the US, Canada,
France, Netherlands, Poland, China and India. This year 2 IAU
scientific conferences have already been conducted and other 8 will be
held in Peking in the framework of IAU General Assembly August 20-31.
The program of scientific meetings is one of the most important means
by which the IAU pursues its goal of promoting the science of astronomy
through international collaboration. A large fraction of the Union's
budget is devoted to the support of the IAU scientific meetings.
