PanARMENIAN.Net - The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)
will definitely benefit from the possible coalition, with Prosperous
Armenia becoming the losing party, expert in political and electoral
technologies said.
Commenting on the possible coalition of RPA, Prosperous Armenia and
Orinats Yerkir, Armen Badalyan noted that RPA which already enjoys
parliamentary majority needs coalition to boost its public image,
while Prosperous Armenia will suffer a downfall reaching the level
of Orinats Yerkir.
"RPA's several circles need coalition with Prosperous Armenia to
neutralize parliamentary votes of the party's "anti-reform" wing,"
the expert said.
Mr. Badalyan noted that Prosperous Armenia garnered part of its votes
through electoral bribery, while the other part of the electorate
considered it an alternative to RPA. The expert further named party
leader Gagik Tsarukyan's image as another factor having attracted
votes.
"Prosperous Armenia will have the chance to implement quality changes
and reforms in case of refusal to join the coalition. However, it won't
be able to employ such financial resources in 2017 unlike this year,"
the analyst said.
According to Mr. Badalyan joining the coalition will imply endorsement
of RPA leader, President Serzh Sargsayn during 2013 presidential race.
The expert voiced confidence for the ability of the "pyramid of power"
to ensure President Sargsayn's victory, regardless of Prosperous
Armenia's joining the coalition.
