YEREVAN. - Not military threats but economic sanctions are more
dangerous for Iran, expert on Iranian studies Armen Israelyan told
the journalists on Friday.
"The sanctions will make Iran suffer more losses than threats on
using military force. Price for food products has increased twice,
gas and oil prices are expected to go up as well which brings forth
the discontent with the authorities. It is more beneficial for the
United States than military actions," the expert added.
"No need to try to inspire disagreement between Ayatollah Khomeini and
the President of Iran," the other expert Rudik Yaralyan said. "There
are no serious religious-political disagreements, which could have
caused for a change in the situation."
At the same time Yaralyan believes that the West has hardly changed
position regarding Tehran. Its goal is to create a controllable chaos,
which is hardly to lead to serious geopolitical steps and military
actions against Iran.
In case of a military aggression, the experts believe that Armenia
will not get a fatal blow on its economy. However, Armenia may have
an indirect influence, for example migration of refugees to Armenia
from Iran.
