Rose Day Celebrates 300th Anniversary of Sayat Nova

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan today participated in Rose Day,
celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Sayat-Nova.
The Rose Day tradition was started in 1914 by Hovhannes Toumanyan and
the painter Gevorg Tashinjaghyan.
The celebration caught on and was marked at the end of May in Tiflis
as a day to remember the bard Sayat Nova.
Musical groups entertained guest and passersby with renditions of the
famous bard's sings.
