"Azdak" daily was first published in Beirut on March 5, 1927. At first,
it was published every two days, then every three days. Now, Armenians
all over the world have the opportunity to read the publications of
Azdak every day.
85 years old Azdak is the official newspaper of ARF-D Centarl Committee
in Lebanon, but is not only the party's newspaper. The daily's
correspondent in Armenia Tatul Hakopyan, who has been collaborating
with the daily since 2005, says Azdak is a bridge for the Armenians
all over the world: "Azdak is one of the few newspepers of parties,
which provides enough place in its publications both to the other
Armenian parties and religious relations, the Apostolic Church,
the Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church".
Azdak is published 6 days in a week. It includes 10 pages. It is
also published in Arabic and has appendixes. Twice a year, on New
Year and on April 24, Azdak exclusives are published.
The daily is published in 3000 copies. 10 copies hardly reach Yerevan.
Movses Herkelyan who manages the cultural section of the daily says
those who come from Lebanon bring the copies and recalls that people
were well acquainted with their newspaper in Soviet Armenia. People
were giving the copies to each other.
Pyunik Center has also been functioning in Azdak over the past 10
years. It is a unique place for gathering and holding exceptional
political and cultural discussions.
