PanARMENIAN.Net - Asked by a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter to comment on
the recent clashes between representatives of Armenian community and
Dagestani workers in Sochi's Adler region, the city administration's
press service said it lacks information on the issue.
Clashes between Armenians and Dagestanis occurred in Sochi's Adler
region, near Chereshnya village on Saturday, May 26. The villagers
told Komsomolskaya Pravda paper that Dagestani workers constantly
offended local Armenian girls with indecent jokes and proposals.
Armenian men, according to them, "tolerated" this until Dagestanis
started "harassing the girls". Armenians assembled a team to revenge
the offenders.
Those having come to the showdown were armed with traumatic weapons
and stun guns, the paper says. The workers further informed the police
of the planned attack against them, who dispersed the crowd with tear
gas, thus putting an end to the mass brawl.
About 300 people were arrested as a result, according to Sochi's
police department.
