By President Serzh Sargsyan's orders, the government conducts
inspections in different sectors and draws up reports, Ruben Hakobyan,
Head of the Heritage parliamentary group, stated at the parliamentary
debate on the 2013 draft budget on Tuesday.
If the government is really interested in eliminating corruption,
it should grant Armenia's parliament the right to supervise such
"affairs," he added.
In response, Armenia's Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan advised
against underestimating the role of Armenia's government and parliament
in battling corruption.
"The president-invited consultations are of high importance. On the
other hand, both the Control Chamber and the Supervision Department
of the Ministry of Finance detected serious abuse in the social sector.
And I share your opinion that it is done by the Armenian president's
order," Minister Gabrielyan said.
