ARMENIA'S POPULATION REDUCED BY ALMOST 195 THOUSAND DURING 10 YEARS

YEREVAN. - Armenia's population fell by almost 195,000 people during
the last ten years.
According to the census conducted last October, Armenia's residents
total 3,018,854 of whom only 2,871,771 actually live in Armenia.
Whereas according to the last census (2001), the country had 3,213,011
residents.
On Wednesday head of census department at the National Statistical
Service of Armenia Karine Kuyumjyan presented preliminary results
of the latest census. She also noted that the final results will be
available in 2013.
Kuyumjyan said as compared to the 2001 census, the number of actually
living in the country declined by 130,823 people, while the number
of permanent residents by 194,157 people.
According to preliminary results of the census, Armenia has 36.7%
rural population and 63.3% urban population.
