The price increase in the wheat and flour market of Armenia is
consistent to the developments of the international market, said the
head of the State Committee for the Protection of Economic Competition,
Artak Shaboyan.
According to him, this is a market of high concentration and social
importance. Shaboyan says the market is under daily monitoring: the
prices for the imported wheat are observed and the international
developments are followed. Wheat prices keep increasing in the
international market. Russia applies limitations due to the decrease
of the wheat harvest.
When asked about the data provided by the Customs' service which show
the price for the imported wheat didn't grow in the last month, but
the bread prices increased, Shaboyan called to discuss the results
of their researches and not the Customs' data.
According to State Statistics Service, 1.2-1.4% increase was recorded
in October compared to September this year.
