Public Council presented a package of reforms in the Armenian TV to
the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, member of the Council Hovik
Musayelyan, Synopsys Armenia company CEO, said after the joint
discussions with the president.
He said the package has been approved by the representatives of
television companies, creative unions.
“Taking into consideration the special mission of the Public TV and
its being financed by the state budget we offered to limit the trade
ads and focus on the social ones,” he said.
“We have also offered setting up a task group that will involve people
known with their activity and who will try to present a program,” he
added.
Musayelyan said the document also presents proposals for the National
Television and Radio Committee.
“The proposals mainly referred to the provision of licenses. New
demands should be forwarded to the TV companies,” he said.
Musayelyan noted that the main goal is creation of such environment
that will make vulgar, aggressive programs not competitive anymore and
the TV companies will have to use self-regulating mechanisms to be
able to reach positive changes.
“The president responded to the idea of setting up a task group. This
group will be set up and the results of its activity will be seen in
near future,” he stressed.
