Recently Khachatur Sukiasyan, Armenia's only and unmatched oligarch,
is getting active. Very often one can meet him walking alomg North
Avenue or in cafes. Apart from walking Sukiasyan considered to remind
about him to Armenian political public, he also gave a long-breathed
interview. As it is known similar things are not that much accidental
and pursue a concrete objective. Therefore, it is not excluded that
sooner a worthy competitor will emerge next to Vardan Sedrakyan and
Raffi Hovhannisyan to the face of former refugee, but currently fully
recovered and, moreover, through walks to make an image of Sukiasyan
"with people, for people".
There is no need to get surprised in case Sukiasyan will have certain
grounds for being nominated. Firstly, he is famous as ambitious
person. In Armenia parliament has its irretrievable place and whoever
once tastes its benefits, gets lifelong virus in organism. Sukiasyan
not only had the fate to taste but he was the only one. On an occasion
Sukiasyan announced that because of Robert Kocharyan he lost 1 or 2
billion and the fact, if Levon Ter-Petrosyan continued the office he
would run Armenia's unique oligarch's crown where nobody was allowed
to come close.
Therefore, it is unequivocal that Sukiasyan will strive to revansh.
Another issue, in case of being nominated his competitor Vardan
Sedrakyan won't stay Raffi Hovhannisyan as well whom oligarchs with
some millions can win. In case of serious competition, he already
has to win Serzh Sargsyan who is considered as candidate with
no alternative. And Sukiasan can hardly compete with the current
president.
Anyway, during presidential elections, especially during Armenian
presidential elections any type of nomination happens, even people
are being nominated who cause nothing but laughter or whose names
before nomination says nothing to their potential voters. In this
sense presidential elections can be more than better platform for
Sukiasyan to return to politics.
It is also known that besides being ambitious person Sukiasyan is
also a little "swaggerer" (once one of the MPs told how former deputy
was excited by the new bought car, telling its advantages, in other
words, praising himself) and for this kind of man being nominated as
a president is a possibility to show up and even with the condition
to fail.
In any case, Sukiasyan's precautions won't cause definitely damage
if no benefit. Just the contrary, as we know candidates spent some
amount of money for getting the positive attitude of public, it is
very probable that Sukiasyan will put his money into circulation
during elections and won't take to foreign country (from 2008 up
to date refugee Sukiasyan seems to prefer "Germanies" and at least
social condition of a few families will improve.
And finally, beyond everything, Sukiasyan is a little charismatic
personality and people with this nature even give some flavor to the
political field, so, even from this perspective there is no damage
from Sukiasyan's nomination.
