ARMENIAN COMPANIES FORCED TO TRANSFER CARGO TO BATUMI PORT OVER POTI STRIKE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Strike in Georgian port of Poti has forced Armenian
transportation companies to transfer their cargo to Batumi port.
In conversation with a PanARMENIANNet reporter, director of Megatrans
cargo transportation company Garnik Aleksanyan characterized Batumi
port as "reserve", in case of problems in Poti port.
"We transferred our cargo to Batumi port on November 7, located about
100 km from Poti port," he said.
Considering the additional distance, the cargo transportation cost
is expected to have increased by USD 100-200.
The company director further noted that Poti port is likely to open
either Nov 8 evening or Nov 9 morning.
