ARFD: PERHAPS, STATEMENT BY PROSPEROUS ARMENIA PARTY (PAP) ABOUT CONSULTATIONS ON TRANSITION TO THE PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT IS THE ELECTION STRATEGY

ARF Dashnaktiutyun party is the most independent political force of
Armenia and to condition its activity by the person of the second
president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, is wrong, a member of the ARFD
Supreme Body, deputy Agvan Vardanyan, said at today's press-conference
when commenting on the rumors in mass media, according to which the
actions of the ARFD much depend on Robert Kocharyan.
As for the beginning of the political consultations on transition to
the parliamentary system of government voiced by Prosperous Armenia
Party on 6 November, Vardanyan recalled that this idea was first
voiced by the ARFD and fixed in the electoral programme of the party.
"I don't remember the PAP to be so much adhered to this principle.
Perhaps, statement by Prosperous Armenia Party about consultations on
transition to the parliamentary system of government is the election
strategy on the threshold of the presidential election. Nevertheless,
we are happy that other political forces understand our ideas too", -
Vardanyan said and added that representatives of the PAP have already
called members of the ARFD to arrange about the consultations.
