ARMENIAN PHARMACEUTICAL "LIQVOR" TO BE FIRST TO USE GMP STANDARD IN REGION
YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Armenian pharmaceutical "Liqvor"
plant will be the first to start using GMP standard in the region,
the government press service reported.
Armenian Prime-Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Minister of Economy Tigran
Davtyan visited Armenian "Liqvor" pharmaceutical company Friday.
The Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) will be introduced in Armenian
pharmaceutical production in January 2013, after that Armenian Ministry
of Economy will start inspections in the country's pharmaceutical
enterprises to check the compliance of the products with GMP standard.
In the next months the company will finally receive a GMP certificate,
and the new plant will be the fist in the region to operate in
accordance with GMP standards, says the report.
According to the report, increased production will enable the company
to expand exports, find new markets, increase capacity and jobs.
The government supported the company twice: first, "Liqvor" received
an 860mln drams credit under anti-crisis government measures in 2009,
the second, it was granted a three years' deferment of VAT payments
against its investment program. The company invested about 5mln
dollars in the newly opened modern plant.
Earlier, the head of Medicine Producers and Importers Union of Armenia
Samvel Zakaryan informed that GMP introduction will increase production
and export capacities by 2-3 times.
"Liqvor" company was founded in May 1991 and was the first private
manufacturer of finished dosage forms in Armenia. The company is
producing 60 names of infusion, injection, ophthalmologic, hemostatic
and otolaryngological medicine and is exporting its products to almost
all CIS countries. In certain fields, such as infusion therapy and
ophthalmology, the company's products are considered basic in standard
treatment schemes. -0-
