RUSSIA-BASED ARMENIAN TYCOON INTERESTED IN CONSTRUCTION OF SHOPS IN MOSCOW SUBWAY STATIONS

Moscow's authorities may allow construction of trade centers at the
entrances to subway stations, the Moscow municipality's transport
department head Maxim Luksutov told Russian Vedomosti.
The subways will be free of unorganized trade with the territories
having multi-functional complexes.
"We want the metropolitan have revenues not only from passenger
transportation but on the account of its territory as well," the
department's head said.
According to Vedomosti, about 20 investors are interested in the
project and have presented different projects. The majority of them
are those who have rented the current shops.
Among the investors is Tashir Group of companies belonging to
Russia-based Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan. Vedomosti says
Tashir wants to build 11 shops.
The clean income of Moscow Metropolitan in 2011 made 5.96 billion
rubles while the goal is to make it reach 10 billion. The department's
head said it will also allow restricting the growth of subway fee.
