THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA SPOKE ABOUT THE INCREASE OF THE ARMENIAN-FRENCH COMMODITY CIRCULATION

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. In frames of the official visit
to the French Republic the President of the Republic of Armenia
Serzh Sargsyan left for Lyon on November 13. There is a large and
highly organized Armenian community in Lyon, where the President
had a meeting with the Mayor of Lyon and Senator Gerard Collomb. The
Press Service of the President of the Republic of Armenia informed
"Armenpress" that the both sides expressed their satisfaction with
the efficient cooperation of Yerevan and Lyon and highly appreciated
this format of the development of the Armenian-French relations. In
this respect the traditional visits of the representatives of the
both municipalities is of a certain importance.
President Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to Gerard Collomb
for his interest towards Armenia and the issues causing preoccupation
of the Armenian people, as well as for the undeniable contribution of
Senator Collomb in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the
development of Yerevan-Lyon relations. The President of the Republic
of Armenia said that he is confident for the continuous development of
relations of Armenia and France due to the cooperation and fraternity
of Yerevan and Lyon.
After the meeting Mayor of Lyon and Senator Gerard Collomb gave a
dinner in honor of Serzh Sargsyan.
In Lyon the President had a meeting with the representatives of the
French business circles. Serzh Sargsyan made a speech in the Chamber
of Commerce and Industry of Rhône-Alpes, one of the biggest economy
centres of Europe. The President spoke about the recent developments
and reforms, that were of certain interest for the businessmen from
France and particularly Lyon, the French-Armenian economic ties,
the historical economic relations of France and Armenia and the
perspectives of deepening those relations. Serzh Sargsyan stated that
in case of effective usage of the economic options of independent
Armenia and the potential of the Armenian-French potential in this
sphere there is a chance to increase the commodity circulation and
even multiply it.
The President stated: "We have "the Armenian-French Business Club"
in Armenia, which has been functioning since the last year and the
President of the French Republic Mr. Francois Hollande suggested
yesterday to turn into a chamber of commerce and industry. We strongly
approve this suggestion."
Later on in Lyon Municipality a solemn reception has been given a
in honor of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the name
of Mayor of Lyon and Senator Gerard Collomb. The Mayor handed the
Honorary commemorative medal of Lyon to Serzh Sargsyan.
Among other things the President of the Republic of Armenia stated:
"The 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is coming and we must
make our national struggle more organized to prevent the repetition
of such a crime against humanity. I am confident that sooner or later
Turkey will have to reckon with the reality. This is perhaps one of
the minimal conditions for the European integration. This condition
was openly announced by the President of the French Repulbic Mr.
Francois Hollande yesterday."
The Armenian delegation headed by the President of the Republic of
Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will come back to Yerevan today.
