YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS: The recognition of Armenian Genocide
by Bundestag, Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany, before
2015 is not probable at the moment, therefore the situation may change
in a result of appropriate steps. As reports Armenpress, this was
noted by Jirair Kocharian lecturer of Free University of Berlin and
the member of the committee on the recognition of Armenian Genocide in
Germany, during the meeting with journalists on November 16. According
to him there is a great number of Turks living in Germany who are
presenting in different parties and whose opinion plays an important
role in Germany.
"Armenian "tsunami" in Germany may not be as intense as the Turkish
one. We demanded Bundestag to recognize that Germany was Turkish
accomplice in the commitment of the Genocide and got the respond that
both EU and Germany had a number of resolutions on Armenian Genocide
and that they considered them to be enough" Kocharian noted.
He also informed that they would continue requesting Bundestag on this
issue, taking into account that in other countries as well the goal
wasn't reached at once.
"Turkey is double criminal, author of a Genocide series. Not only
Armenians were massacred but also Greeks, Assyrians, and today a list
of nations are "waiting for their turn". We are trying to cooperate
with these nations to demand Turkey recognize its sin" Kocharian
highlighted. He also noted that Armenian government had little to do
on this issue; German Armenians are the ones who have the right to
demand justice from their countries government.
